Acoustic Guitar Body Types

Currently the major acoustic guitar body types are Dreadnought type (D type), Auditorium type (A type), OM type, Jumbo type (J type) , their characteristics are as follows:

Dreadnought type :
This should be the most common guitar body type , that is ,we used to call \"folk guitar \'\', standard 41-inch , the guitar is relatively large, the guitarwaist is not that prominent, this kind of type design is early from the famous Martin , the most world well-know guitar is the Martin D-45 Standard Series, Martin\'s flagship dreadnought guitar.The D-45 represents the most elegantly appointed dreadnought Martin offers in their line. This kind of guitar is relatively large , so the resonance effect it relatively good , has a very vast feeling of mellow bass, very suitable for rhythmic strumming. .

Auditorium type:
Guitars of this type seem to have smaller figures contrast to Dreadnought type . For example ,if Dreadnought type is a woman , the Auditorium type will be a girlish. The sound characteristics of this type guitars , i think , in terms of resonance , the Auditorium is not as good as the Dreadnought , but the tone focus is good , the intermediate frequency is very prominent and quite balanced. Such characteristics make these kinds of guitars very
suitable for applications with guitar solo , can do well for finger-style players who play various styles . Some people say , Auditorium is used by master , because the sound is clear ,balanced and sensitive , has relatively higher requirements for right-handed controllers . But if they can grasp the characteristics of the Auditorium , it will be very handy to play any style .

OM type :
In fact , the shape of OM type guitars is very close to the Auditorium guitars , only some differences , the are difference between the upper and lower of the waist is not bigger than Auditorium ,thinner than Auditorium , tone characteristics are similar with the Auditorium , Auditorium is relatively balanced , OM high frequency performance is more prominent. So OM guitars frequency is very clear ,very suitable for finger-style playing ,usually used to play country blues and other styles. The famous fingerstyle guitarist Tommy would very much like to play with the OM type guitars , Eric Clapton ,John Mayer is also loyal customers of OM type guitar . Jumbo type :
This type of guitar has enormous body that various types of guitars can not match , the huge guitar body makes the guitar have excellent resonance effect.The slender guitar body design makes the guitar have some tone characteristics that Auditorium has , so the guitar playing style is quite broad. This type of guitar shape is closer to the classical guitars , their sound is characterized by a huge ,bass and full volume . If you do use full maple to make the guitar body ( generally rare ) ,then make it a bright and crisp treble characteristics completely , meanwhile make up for its high frequency , very suitable for band guitarists . We know \"Elvis\"would very much like to use Jumbo guitar , which he used JUMBO guitar to neutralize the excessive high frequency of maple sides and backs .
